FabFilter Pro-Q 3 Release

FabFilter has released their new FabFilter Pro-Q 3, a modern equalizer plug-in with a ton of power. While many in the audio plug-in industry are focusing on replicating old hardware, FabFilter has maintained laser focus on providing modern tools that make your life easier. We all love analog modeling plug-ins with GUI's that mimic the old analog gear, but there is much to be said for graphical interfaces that have as much flexibility as possible. Take a look at the FabFilter Pro-Q 3's GUI and you'll see what I mean.

You simply cannot pull off that level of detailed EQing without a tool like Pro-Q 3.

The updated plugin has improved upon its predecessor in every area, notably in the following ways:

  • Integrated dynamic EQ - Switch any of its 24 bands to Dynamic EQ mode

  • Surround Support - Up to Dolby Atmos 7.1.2

  • Advanced per-band Mid/Side Processing

  • New Filter Types and curves - 6-96dB/octave slopes for all filter types

  • Improved spectrum analyzes and spectrum grab

Personally I think the best improvements in this release are the addition of the dynamic EQ, the improved spectrum analyzer, and the new filter types and shapes. Dynamic EQ gives you the ability to add dynamics to your EQ, so that EQ is only applied to certain dynamic levels of the incoming signal. The improved spectrum analyzer gives you the ability to graphically see problematic frequencies, and even see collision between any other tracks in your session that have Pro-Q loaded. The additional filter types and curves mean you can get even more detailed with your EQing.

FabFilter Pro-Q 3 is now available for EUR 149, USD 179 or GBP 134, supporting both Windows and macOS in VST and VST 3, Audio Units, AAX, and AudioSuite plug-in formats. Bundles with FabFilter Pro-Q 3 and other FabFilter plug-ins are also available at: www.fabfilter.com/shop
